Satori World Medical is seeking a NURSE PATIENT ADVOCATE (NPA)

Summary:  This position performs critical functions for the Medical Quality Assurance division of the company.  Responsibilities may include, although not limited to, being the primary patient advocate throughout the approval, utilization management, and procedure by Satori World Medical’s international health network.  Patient Advocacy is centered around quality; quality of communications with patient and provider, quality around documentation and follow up; it requires a constant audit and awareness of Satori processes, and a willingness to question or implement new practices for greater patient satisfaction, advocacy, economy, and/or efficiency in getting work done.  Requires strong computer capabilities, internet research skills, and excellent written and verbal communication, must be bilingual, with strong interpersonal skills.  Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, physicians both domestically and internationally, health plan personnel and international hospital staff.  At all times, assures confidentiality and the discrete handling of all business.

This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer of the company.

Specific duties:

PATIENT ADVOCACY

  • Design, implement and manage patient advocacy program for Satori World Medical
  • In concert with the Chief Medical Officer, oversee the authorization patient intake and through put processes.
  • Review patient eligibility for travel consistent with Quality guidelines.

COMMUNICATION

  • Must be bilingual, specifically must at least speak fluent spanish
  • Compose correspondence/reports as necessary
  • Review hospital and physician quality data.  Perform trending, analysis and maintain records. Prepares quarterly report.
  • Effectively communicates to Chief Medical Officer and others results of advocacy efforts.
  • Maintains and updates all policies and procedures, including Medical Quality Assurance, Quality Improvement, and through put processes.
  • Effectively communicate with US physicians and network physicians as necessary regarding patient procedure, treatment, and follow up care.
  • Liaison with patient family, companion and patient as necessary.
  • Research, draft, or abstract quality reports.

PHONE

  • Handle all patient inquiries as appropriate – effective triage.
  • Conduct phone surveys/inquiries as needed.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • Provide necessary materials, and instruction to health plans, payors, TPA’s or others on the implementation of the Satori network.  Provide materials as needed.
  • Prepare training/implementation materials/sessions as needed.
  • Works closely with Network Development department to ensure smooth utilization of network facilities.

DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Assure all reports and relevant databases are current and secure.
  • Update and manage all external and internal quality reports, patient reports, power point presentations, relevant web site information, etc.
  • Monitor competitor’s web sites, stay current in field, and manage resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Input data into databases as requested or required.
  • Provide monthly metrics to accounting for dashboard reporting.

PROJECTS

  • Handle administrative detail, all projects as assigned.  Deliver finished product on time and in professional/final form.
  • Seek greater role in projects within administrative and other areas of competence.

OTHER

  • Recommend management action to improve standard operating procedures, quality measures, new procedures, tracking, reporting or other items that will enhance the Satori experience for patients, their families, and payors.
  • Take initiative on requests and inquiries.
  • Other duties as assigned as appropriate that are consistent with the theme of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing
  • Active R.N. License
  • Experience in Hospital surgical setting
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and some international
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, self starter, and able to communicate effectively.

Internship Opportunities

Satori World Medical is seeking a highly-motivated and articulate intern looking to receive college credit, build valuable experience and expand their writing portfolio.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Reporting, drafting, writing and editing weekly blog posts for corporate blog
  • Conducting research to develop ideas and content for future blog posts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Commitment to work 10-20 hours per week for 2-4 months or until internship requirements are fulfilled (a flexible work schedule can be accommodated Mon-Fri 8am-5 pm)
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete projects on time
  • Experience working with/writing for a school newspaper or other publication (including web-based) a plus

Satori World Medical is seeking an intern to assist the Marketing & Sales Department by effectively executing a market research & database management project to fulfill an internship requirement for college credit.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Market Research: identifying and researching key sales and distribution channels
  • Database Development & Managment: assist in building a comprehensive sales database of research findings
  • Press & Sales kit assembly

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Looking to receive college credit and build valuable experience
  • Commitment to work 10-20 hours per week (a flexible work schedule can be accommodated Mon-Fri 8am-5 pm) for 2-4 months or until internship requirements are fulfilled
  • Proficiency in Excel & Microsoft Word
  • Ability to perform internet research using search engines
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete projects on time
  • This is a non-paid internship
